We are proud to present the first San Francisco MUSICAL EMERGENCY.
This one is worth explaining. Martin, the organizer, writes a narrative based on the plot points of a well-known tale. In the past, they have done Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, A Christmas Carol, Hamlet, etc. Then different folks take different plot points and write songs about them. They come together on the appointed night and run the show, essentially a one-time-only musical with the numbers contributed by guests.
These are the same folks that put on the No Man show at one of the first Juplayas. Yes, they’ve been doing these for years, usually in Oakland. Fun, creative, tuneful, and in SF for the first time!
The upcoming show is called Dark Side Story and based upon the original Star Wars film. (That’s Episode IV for you serious geeks.)
The web site, with the musical numbers: http://www.eatagoodbreakfast.com/events/DSS/ Plenty still left if you wish to perform a song.
Past shows, with musical numbers archived, are here: http://www.eatagoodbreakfast.com/events/
Q: Is this that thing where I can write and perform a song that becomes part of a musical?
A: Yep – check out http://www.eatagoodbreakfast.com/events/DSS/ and pick out a section of the story to transform into a musical number! (And wear a costume.)
Q: Do I hafta? Can I just show up and watch?
A: Of course! But please bring food. (And wear a costume.)
Q: Can I help out some other way?
A: Yes! Check out http://www.eatagoodbreakfast.com/events/DSS/credits.html and we’ll talk! (And wear a costume.)
Q: Do I have to wear a costume?
A: Have to? No. Get to? Yes.
Any questions? Then man your ships!
